Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 often referred to professionally under the other name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October 2016, and she was able to get recognition. Her first album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 with her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. Ari Lennox continued to post her music online including her self-released single Bound. On July 21st, the 21st of July in 2015 Omen featured her on Elephant Eyes song"Sweat it Out.. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time and wanted her to create Rihanna references. Then, in December of 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna was contracted by Dreamville Records. In the album Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the song Backseat along with Cozz. On the 21st of October in 2016, her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song and opened her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox appeared on two tracks with EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music video followed then followed by a short video in September. In November, she dropped two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 she then came out with two additional singles, One and Pedigree. One as well as Pedigree. They then teamed up on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single in February, 2019, for her debut album the same title. The song, released with a video on YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been watched over 3 million times within the first seven days. In support of the track she performed with 6LACK during December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
